Would You Show Your Social Security Number In Your Mortgage Ads?

BATTLECALL GUEST EXPERT: Tom Domin, Mortgage Marketing Toolkit

Would you show your social security number in your mortgage ads? Well, that's exactly what Todd Davis has done. In fact, you can actually see how he posted his social security number 457-55-5462 on his website.

Actually, Mr. Davis is the CEO of a company called LifeLock (lifelock.com) and they guarantee your identity will not be stolen when you sign up for their service.

LifeLock doesn't just report unauthorized use of your credit information; they prevent it by working with the credit bureaus to make sure you're contacted to approve any credit transaction before it takes place. They also remove your name from pre-approved credit card offers and junk-mail lists, where identity theft often gets started.

They are so sure of their system that their CEO confidently publishes his own Social Security number in all their ads.

The only downside to a service like this is that you won't be able to get instant credit at a department store to claim your 10% discount or your free toaster. That's probably OK...because it also means that someone who is trying to steal your identity can't get those incentives either.

We have all heard and read the stories about individuals whose identities have been stolen by identity thieves. They're not pretty stories&people working for hundreds of hours over many years to get their lives back in order...even innocent individuals ending up in jail as a result. LifeLock protects against this from ever happening.

The best part of all...their guarantee!

The guarantee is simple. If you are their client when someone steals your personal information and subsequently misuses it, they will reimburse any and all direct expenses that you incur. They will act as your attorney on your behalf and work for as long as it takes and exert their best efforts to restore your identity to its state prior to the theft. The maximum amount that they will pay is $1 million over the life of the incident. In addition, you are not responsible for any additional fees to exercise that guarantee.

Direct expenses include lost wages, long-distance calls, postage and other miscellaneous costs in addition to any funds that are actually stolen from you or a third party that holds you responsible. If you need an attorney to help resolve the claims, LifeLock will select them and manage the case on your behalf.

LifeLock is the leading player in the rapidly growing field of Identity Theft Prevention. They are based in Tempe, Arizona. Their company is led by experienced, successful entrepreneurs and industry experts and, is backed by Bessemer Venture Partners, one of the leading venture capital firms in the world. They currently serve tens of thousands of consumers in every state of the union, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands.
